A match in Sharjah always promises a shower of runs and lots of action and this match surely lived up to the expectations. MI continued their winning ways and hopped back to the top of the table- where they belong. It was a disappointing loss for SRH and they are now languishing at the 7th position.
Result:- MI beat SRH by 34 runs. Scorecard.
Talking Points from the match
Quinton de Kock’s brilliant half-century

Finally, QDK showed his true abilities. QDK had performed well against CSK but the bowlers kept him quiet the next few matches but not this time.
SRH scalped the wicket of Rohit Sharma in the very first over and topped it off with another wicket before the end of the powerplay. QDK had to step up and deliver if MI wanted to put up a defendable total. He teamed up with his partner in crime- Hardik Pandya and after that, it was just fireworks. Both of them put all their guns blazing and smashed every bowler over the ropes. QDK went on to score a smooth 67 runs off just 39 balls.
He took the score from 48/2 to 126/2. QDK’s return in form is a merry sign for the men in blue as they will look forward to more such performances from the Proteas skipper.
Krunal Pandya’s firepower

Hardik Pandya and Pollard were struggling to find the ropes in the death overs. When Hardik got out, the score was 188/5 with four balls remaining in the first innings. Krunal Pandya came in and simply shook everyone.
19.3- It was a slower ball and Krunal smashed it over long on for a SIX!
19.4- Kaul attempt at a yorker turned into a low full toss and Krunal punishes the mistake for a FOUR!
19.5- It was a low full toss again and it’s the same result- FOUR!
19.6- What a finish to the innings! Krunal hammers the ball over long on and sent the ball away for a SIX!
Krunal finished unbeaten with an innings of 20*(4) and propelled MI’s score to 208/5. Phew, what an epic beating!
Rashid Khan’s magic

There weren’t many positives to take from this match for Hyderabad but one point is surely the way Rashid Khan bowled yesterday.
Rashid Khan has always been SRH’s go-to man whenever you want to put a stop on the flow of runs or need a wicket. He has always been brilliant against MI and delivered this time too. It was him only who scalped the wicket of the top runscorer of MI- Quinton de Kock.
Heavy hitters- Hardik Pandya and Kieron Pollard played it safe against Rashid and didn’t take any risks against him. Rashid finished with figures of 4-0-22-1. To have an economy of 5.50 when the opponent team has set up a 200+ target shows just how good you are.
MI’s team bowling effort

One thing that has always given MI the edge over others is how their bowling department click together as a unit.
It was Trent Boult who was the man of the match yesterday as he had important wickets of Bairstow and Williamson in his bag, topping it off with an excellent economy of 7.00. Pattinson was the perfect bowler to complement him as he choked the rest of the top order taking wickets of Warner and Manish Pandey.
Jasprit Bumrah though expensive, took the responsibility of the middle order and sent Abhishek and Samad back to the pavilion. Krunal Pandya also took a wicket while Pollard conceded only two runs in the final over of MI’s innings. All in all, MI’s bowling was top notch this match and the team would hope to capitalize on the momentum.
Questions to answer
- Should SRH replace Williamson with Nabi?
- How can SRH fix their fragile middle order?
- Will SRH struggle in absence of Bhuvi?
While MI look to be one of the teams to beat, they can’t be complacent. The competition is neck to neck this season and they need to continue their fine form till the end. SRH on the other have lots of introspection to do. Let’s see what the upcoming matches hold for both the giants. Stay Tuned!
